What is all of this about?

Each WatchKeeper is required to send in duty telegrams each week to help us make sure that you are meeting the 2 hour per week requirement of WKs and to get credit towards citizenship extensions. Most new WatchKeepers send in duty telegrams incorrectly the first and second weeks so please pay attention to this page!

How do I send in duty telegrams?

When you go on duty in AWNewbie, you must send in a telegram to WatchKeeper. Most new WKs and even some current ones forget to do this! When you put on the PPW you must telegram WatchKeeper (#292454) with:

on duty

When you go off duty in AWNewbie, you must send in another telegram with the following format:

off duty after x hours

Most new WKs and even some current ones forget to put "after x hours." The X is the number of hours you were on duty. This really helps to facilitate things when I go through and check.

When are duty times checked?

Duty times are usually checked every Sunday during the morning hour of Eastern Standard Time. The checking of times, however, may vary.

What happens if I don't do 2 hours per week?

Anything more than two hours is considered hyperactive, and you'll get one week's credit. You can't carry over the extra hours to the next week.

Two hours is considered active, and you'll get one week's credit.

Anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour and a half is considered partially active. You won't get penalized but you won't get credit for the week, either.

Anything between 0 minutes and half an hour is considered inactive after one week for the first week and inactive after two weeks for the second week. After five straight weeks of inactivity, you'll receive e-mail warning you about inactivity. If you fail to complete any duty time for a sixth straight week, you are removed from WatchKeepers.

If you won't be able to do your duty time, contact Red Sorceress so she can put you on leave.

This system is in place to encourage active participation in WatchKeepers and to discourage WKs from disappearing and not telling me that they have left AW, went on vacation, etc. You can check your status by going to AWNewbTR.
